Beberapa noun memiliki adjective. Memahami hal ini akan memudahkan pembelajar bahasa Inggris untuk membentuk kalimat dengan lebih baik. Kelompok noun dengan adjective ini digunakan juga untuk degree of comparison. Kelompok ini adalah:
age (umur, usia) = young, old
color (warna) = green, blue, black, red, ….
depth (dalam) = shallow, deep
distance (jarak) = near, far
height (ketinggian) = low, high, short, tall
length (panjang) = short, long
price (harga) = cheap, expensive
size (ukuran) = small, little, big, large
speed (kecepatan) = slow, fast
weight (berat, bobot) = light, heavy
width (luas, lebar) = narrow, wide
When I was in your age, I was very fat. (Ketika saya seumur kamu, saya sangat gemuk.)
When I was as young as you, I was very fat. (Ketika saya semuda kamu, saya sangat gemuk.)
My house to school is the same distance as my house to the post office. (Rumahku ke sekolah sama jaraknya dengan rumahku ke kantor pos.)
My house to school is as far as my house to the post office. (Rumahku ke sekolah sama jauhnya dengan rumahku ke kantor pos.)
He usually drives in the same speed as I do. (Dia biasanya mengemudi dengan kecepatan yang sama denganku.)
He usually drives as fast as I do. (Dia biasanya mengemudi secepat aku.)
