I Hate Football

I hate football not because it isn’t interesting. It is. I hate it because of the crazy supporters who are often out of control and start riots, it doesn’t matter whether their favorite teams win or lose.

I hate football because I cannot play it at all. There was a school-sport-week at our junior high school. Every class had to take part in football, volleyball and table-tennis competitions. There were only 22 boys in my class. Eight had to join the volleyball team, two joined the table-tennis, and the rest (12 boys) had to join the football team. I told my friends that I would be the football supporter because I could not play football nor other sports. Unfortunately, a boy was sick. Willy-nilly, I had to join the team. Frankly speaking, I had never practiced football. In two times thirty minutes, I ran after the ball here and there but I never kicked the ball. Not even a kick. Fortunately, our team won the match. A neighbor, who was watching the match, said, “Hi, David. You only ran and ran but never kicked the ball. What a player you are!” “Idiot!” I grumbled, “This is what so called movement without the ball.”
What makes me hate football more is because Indonesia football team cannot take part in the World Cup. Has never. Am I wrong?
I hate football because footballers earn much money.
The fact that football games are often aired at midnight is another reason why I hate football. And I hate myself for not being able to avoid watching them. Damned football. (By David Solafide)
